Update to the Instructions for 2011 Forms 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ -- 16-MAR-2012
If you downloaded the Instructions for Form 1040, the Instructions for Form 1040A, or the Instructions for Form 1040EZ before March 7, 2012, please note that new Form 1127-A, Application for Extension of Time for Payment of Income Tax for 2011 Due to Undue Hardship, was created after the Instructions went to print. Form 1127-A allows a 6-month extension to pay 2011 income taxes if certain requirements are met. If the extension is granted, it will only affect the failure-to-pay penalty. All other penalties and interest will still apply.
