June 14, 2011: Scheduled Modernized e-File (MeF) Production and Assurance Testing System (ATS) Downtime.
Attention: All Modernized e-File (MeF) Business and Individual (BMF & IMF) Participants - Transmitters, Software Developers and States. The Modernized e-File system will be unavailable for processing from approximately 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Eastern on Saturday, June 18, 2011 while the IRS performs disaster recovery site testing. Although the Registered User Portal (RUP) will be operational during a portion of this time, any returns or extensions transmitted to MeF will not be processed.
Please refrain from accessing the MeF Production or Assurance Testing Systems to transmit business/individual tax returns, retrieve acknowledgements or submit any other service requests.
Please monitor the MeF Status Page for any updates. We will issue a QuickAlert when the system is available again after the testing is complete. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
The routine system maintenance window is still scheduled for Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., Eastern.

June 15, 2011: 94x XML Business e-file
ATTN: Software Developers, Return Transmitters and Authorized IRS e-file Providers/Electronic Return Originators (EROs). Form 94x OnLine filers can not file bulk returns or e-file returns for other businesses. The 94x OnLine filer uses a 10 Digit PIN to sign their 94x return OnLine. The 94x OnLine filers are only allowed to submit 5 returns a year using IRS Approved Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software.
An ERO does not have signature authority and should not request a PIN to sign an OnLine Employment Tax Return for the taxpayer.
NOTE: At this time, only one 94x OnLine e-Filer PIN can be issued for an Employer. For more information on The 94x OnLine e-Filer please refer to Publication 3823.

June 19, 2011: Scheduled Modernized e-File (MeF) Production and Assurance Testing System (ATS) Downtime.
Attention: All Modernized e-File (MeF) Business and Individual (BMF & IMF) Participants - Transmitters, Software Developers and States. The IRS has successfully resolved the issues that extended the Sunday Maintenance Build Window that were impacting the Modernized e-File Production System today. We also completed the disaster recovery site testing that took place on Saturday, June 18, 2011.
You can resume transmitting production submissions, transmitting other service requests, and getting acknowledgements.

June 29, 2011: Modernized e-File (MeF) Form 4562 Schema Notification
Attention: All Modernized e-File (MeF) Business and Individual (BMF & IMF) Transmitters, Software Developers and States. Several schema packages were placed into Production on Sunday, June 26, 2011. The information cited in the schema package for the Form 4562 is incorrect. Lines 1 and 3 on the Form 4562 specifically reflect inaccurate maximum dollar amounts.
Please note that the schema for the Form 1040 is NOT impacted. However, the impacted BMF Forms are:
1120, 1120F, 1120S, 1120POL, 1065, 990, 990EZ, 990PF and Form 7004. The Form 4562 schema will be updated as a minor (version change) and will be shared as expeditiously as possible.
