Forms for 1040 Modernized e-File (MeF) Program
IRS phased in the 1040-related forms that can be filed through MeF.
Phase I included Form 1040, Form 4868, and an additional 21 1040-related forms and schedules for tax year 2009.
On January 18, 2011, MeF implemented Phase II and continues to accept Form 1040, Form 4868, and the additonal 21 1040-related forms and schedules for Tax Years 2009 and 2010 with the exception of Form 4868, which will only be accepted for Tax Year 2010.
Form 1040 MeF Phase I and Phase II Forms
On January 17, 2012, MeF implemented Phase III by adding the additional Form 1040 Family and related forms and schedules for Tax Year 2011.
