EITC "The List" - Radio PSA :60 script

WOMAN: Stock up the fridge.

 Pay down the bills.

Oh, buy some new work clothes. Yuh, that’s the first thing I’d get.

ANNCR:  Oh! The things you would do if you just had some extra money, right?

WOMAN:  Fill up the tank. Get a tune-up. And a new front tire.

ANNCR:  Well, maybe you do have money waiting for you.

WOMAN:  Really?

ANNCR:  At the IRS.

WOMAN:  (laughs) You’re kidding, right?

ANNCR:  No, really. If you’re a working person making less than 49 thousand, you could qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, the EITC. Some people will get as much as fifty-seven hundred back when they file their taxes and claim the credit. It’s money you could use to…

WOMAN:  Wait, let me finish that thought. Paint the apartment, build up the savings account, buy a little something for the family.

ANNCR: Do you have money waiting for you? See if you qualify at www.irs.gov/eitc.

WOMAN: Fix these broken glasses, take a night school class, start a vegetable garden.

ANNCR: I think they get it.

WOMAN: Get a chain for my bike. Oh, and we all need some new raincoats

ANNCR: You can stop now.

WOMAN: I’d fix my computer. I’d upgrade it.
