This IRM provides an overview of the responsibilities and standards for Enterprise Networks (EN).

EN is responsible for managing the telecommunications budget for the IRS; engineering and designing the telecommunications infrastructure; and providing standards, procedures, guidelines, and operational support for the following telecommunications services:

Voice services via Private Branch Exchange (PBX), Electronic Key Telephone System (EKTS), Centrex, local dial tone, voice trunks, voice message systems (VMS), toll free services, Universal Wiring (UW), voice asset management, voice equipment add-ons such as facsimiles, wireless devices such as cell phones and pagers, and new technology developments in voice such as Voice over IP (VoIP);

Data services via workstation, routers, switches, firewalls, proxy servers, Wide Area Network (WAN), Domain Name System (DNS), and authorized remote secure access methods such as Common Communication Gateway (CCG), Enterprise Remote Access Project (ERAP), and new technology developments in data;

Video services via the IRS voice and data infrastructure.
