Tax Year 2009 Schemas and Business Rules for Modernized e-File (MeF) Forms 1040 and 4868
The tables below provide links to each version of tax year 2009 XML schemas, business rules and release memorandum for Form 1040 and Form 4868. The Form 1040 schema package and Form 4868 schema package will include all forms and attachments that can be filed through the MeF platform with that respective form.

March 26, 2010 Update: 2009v4.1 Revised package posted for both 1040 and 4868. Includes all changes implemented through March 28, 2010. Form 1040 has 3 new business rules implemented on 03/28/2010: F1040-165, F1040-166 and F1040-167.

February 10, 2010 Upate: The following rules were re-enabled in ATS on February 10th: F1040-059, F1040-063, F1040-071, F1040-082, F1040-120, F8863-007, R0000-672, SC-F1040-003, SD-F1040-001, F1040-155, F1040-156, F1040-089, and R0000-122.
Note: Rules F1040-155 and F1040-156 will be disabled again on 02/11/2010 and re-enabled when corrections are completed.
January 27th, 2010 Update: The following rules were re-enabled in ATS on January 27th: F1040-025, F1040-051, F1040-060, F1040-081, F1040-112, F1040-113, F2441-003, F2441-004, F2441-006, F8863-006, F8863-010, R0000-689
January 5, 2010 Update: Form 2210 schema corrected; added Business Rules F1040-162, F2210-002, R0000-125, R0000-126 and R0000-127; deleted Business Rule R0000-122.
General Information
Throughout the year, multiple versions of these schema/business rules packages may be in use at the same time. The tables will reflect the start date in the Assurance Testing System (ATS) and Production system for each version, and the end date, if there is one.

The business rules will be available in both Adobe (.pdf) and Comma Separated Values (.csv) formats.

The release memo will include additional information related to each schema/business rule version.
