Tax Trails - Extension To File
To request an automatic extension of time to file Form 1041, U.S. Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts, Form 1065, U.S. Return of Partnership Income, or Form 1066, U.S. Real Estate Mortgage Investment Conduit Income Tax Return, file Form 7004, Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File Certain Business, Income Tax, Information, and Other Returns, on or before the due date for the applicable return.
Generally, an extension of time to file a return does not extend the time for payment of taxes due. You should pay the total tax estimated to be due in full on or before the regular due date of the return. For additional information, see the Instructions for Form 7004.
