To receive a certificate of completion, you must:
- View the rebroadcast on May 17, 2012 for at least 50 minutes from the start of the program.
- View the presentation while signed in using the same email address that you used to register (you will not receive credit by watching on someone else’s computer). This will confirm your attendance and generate your certificate of completion (e-mailed in approximately one week after the broadcast).
- Register individually. Groups cannot register with one e-mail address and then receive separate certificates. If certificates are needed, each person must register separately.
If you are an enrolled agent or a registered tax return preparer, you must register with your PTIN. A PTIN is not required to receive a certificate of completion, but an accurate PTIN (P plus 8 digits) is needed for enrolled agents and registered tax return preparers to receive credit from the IRS Return Preparer Office. Other tax professionals will be sent a certificate and may receive credit if the broadcast meets their organizations' or states' CPE requirements.
Viewers can register online anytime before the program and download a calendar reminder. The webinar will be available on demand on the IRS Video Portal one month after the live program airs. Also as a part of its outreach delivery suite, IRS offers Webinars for Small Businesses and video and audio presentations on a variety of tax topics, all of which are free.
